I’ve been to many hidden gems before and I can safely say that Nuevo is the most hidden cafe that I’ve been to. Nuevo is secluded in the industrial area in Eunos so don’t be confused when Google Maps bring you to the area. My friend and I really thought we were lost and went back and forth before finally finding it.
HOW TO GET THERE:
You can just google maps to kinda vaguely know where it is, but if you’re walking from paya lebar mrt station then just pay attention to the buildings on your right because that’s where it is.
I always think that ambiance is a really important aspect of a restaurant and I am definitely giving Nuevo a 10/10. Even though we went on a Saturday night, it was ALMOST empty. It’s emptiness and chic design makes it an excellent place for a date or to hang out with a group of friends.
Of course the food is important too and I’m glad that the cafe wasn’t just beautiful on the outside.
I ordered the Yakiniku Beef Ribeye with Sous Vide Egg ($14) and Salted Caramel Latte ($5.50) while my friend ordered the Norwegian Salmon with Mashed Sweet Potato and Lemon Butter Sauce ($16).
Everything in the bowl complemented one another perfectly- the beef, the sous vide egg, pickles, a sprinkle of sesame seeds. The beef is really tender and has a slight char taste to it but I felt like the sauce was quite overpowering. I would ask them to separate the sauce if I do order this in the future.
The salted caramel latte was quite disappointing tho. It was lacking a subtle touch of saltiness but other than that I felt like it was pretty good.
The salmon was really good and unique. It came with mashed sweet potato and a lemon butter sauce. I would recommend getting the sauce separated though because not everyone may like it. The salmon was cooked perfectly and I was really surprised by how the mashed potato and sauce tasted.
