[REVIEW] BrotherBird milk & croissants – Delicious Croissants and Softserve, New Flavors Every Week

croissant is a buttery, flaky, viennoiserie pastry named for its crescent shape. Croissants are made of a layered yeast-leavened dough, which is layered with butter, rolled and folded several times in succession, then rolled into a sheet. This results in a 250g calorie, buttery snack; but the croissants at BrotherBird are croissants worth getting a few arteries clogged for!

With their newly-opened shop at the new Djitsun Mall in Bedok, how could I resist the temptation to purchase these beautiful puff pastries.


BrotherBird switches their menu every 10 days and for this period (5th July- 15th July), their flavors are original, matchakey lime meringue, kinder bueno w almonds, samoa smores and osmanthus oolong.

Original | $3


As much as plain may seem a little, well, plain to some, including me, I have to admit that their best croissant is the original flavor. Every layer is drenched with sugar. It was very rich and crispy. Even my mom who isn’t a huge fan of croissants found it nice.

Key Lime Meringue | $4

Cheesey desserts are usually rather decadent but the addition of a sour lime meringue balances the heavy layer of cream-cheese filling in the croissants, making it very refreshing and appetizing. However, I felt like the it was slightly too sweet because my throat started to turn a little phlegmy towards the end.

Kinder Bueno w Almonds | $5


A chocolately- hazelnutty choice that all chocolate lovers will definitely flock to. It really does taste like a kinder bueno, but in the form of a croissant. And it has this tangy cream cheese element layer on top, balancing out the sweetness from the hazelnut filling. No doubt it was tasty, but I felt like it’s a bit of the waste because it covers the sugary sweetness of the croissant.

Samoa Smores | $4


Marshmallow, chocolate and biscuits- that’s a smores for you. The samoa smores croissant consists of a chocolate filling, melted marshmallow layered on top, with biscoff biscuit crumbs sprinkled on top. It is actually a lot less sweet than it sounds. Though, I feel like using traditional graham crackers will tie the flavors together better.

Cookie-butter Milk Soft-serve | $6


Rather than my expectations of it tasting like cookie dough, their soft-serve tasted like liquefy biscoff. It was also not as creamy as I thought so it’s not a dessert that you’ll get sick of easily. The ice-cream is topped with a granola/crushed biscuit mixed with sliced almond. I really liked the addition of the almond together with its skin, which had a nutty bitter taste, that countered the sweetness of the soft-serve.

For $6, it was extremely worth it and this is no doubt one of the best soft-serves I’ve eaten.

Do note that their soft serves are only on their secret menu though so do drop them a message in advance to inquire!
